Landsommer offers pleasurable experiences

From the end of June to the beginning of September, restaurateurs and producers from the Naturgenuss regional initiative invite you to enjoy summery offers between the Rhine Valley and the Westerwald.

Summer is one of the best times to experience and enjoy nature. This is when the Rhine Valley and the Westerwald can show off their charms in a special way. The desire for "open-air" fun is known to be high right now and so many beautiful regional events, often designed as outdoor experiences, run like a green ribbon through the summer months. Casual enjoyment with summery ease and getting to know participating nature enjoyment partners is at the heart of the series of events that take place virtually on your own doorstep.

On July 10 and 16, for example, the farm cycling tour around Altenkirchen and Flammersfeld offers two individual tours through the beautiful Westerwald countryside with farm visits as well as refreshment and shopping opportunities along the way. More enjoyable cycling than athletic training, although the routes are certainly challenging.

In Kannenbäckerland, a guided hike awaits on July 31 with a regional picnic snack along the way, while local cheese and wine tastings as well as farm and vineyard peach festivals await at wineries in Leutesdorf. In Asbacher Land, there is the herb week at the end of July at the Naturgenuss-Gastgeber, in Leubsdorf am Rhein on July 9th the wild herb tour with tasting, on July 17th forest experience and chanterelle enjoyment in Hümmerich, the regional products cooking workshop on August 17th in Neuwied, the regional classic Rheinischer Sauerbraten at the Buchholzer Kirmes at the Naturgenuss-Gastgeber at the end of July and many more offers are available on the website of the regional project over the summer period.

Meanwhile, the "Naturgenuss" initiative continues to grow between the Rhine Valley, Wiedtal, Westerwald and Sieg. The joint initiative between the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park and the Neuwied district economic development agency has been promoting nature experiences and regional delights since 2019. It cooperates with the joint initiative Wir Westerwälder and now has over 50 partner businesses from the gastronomy, agricultural production and manufacturing sectors.

District Administrator Achim Hallerbach is delighted with the development of the Naturgenuss regional project and is certain that more restaurateurs and direct marketers will discover the initiative around good regional products in the coming months. "The declared aim is to establish a regional network as well as a marketing initiative for restaurateurs and regional producers in order to bring more regionality into the glass and onto the plate in local pubs and restaurants, but also to fill the shopping basket of the end consumer with more regional products," emphasizes the head of the district.

Irmgard Schröer from the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park and project manager Jörg Hohenadl from the Neuwied district's business development department also see their role as initiators and promoters of the Naturgenuss initiative as confirmed. The combination of experiencing nature and enjoying the region is important to them: "At the same time, the special distinction of the nature park region, but also the general value of agriculture and good, regionally produced foodstuffs, should be brought even more to the attention of guests and residents alike. True to the motto "Experience nature while tasting and discovering the region".

It's worth taking a look at www.naturgenuss-partner.de throughout the summer to find interesting offers from the individual organizers under the motto "Landsommer"!
