On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the cycling day WIEDer ins TAL will take place. There is a 25th anniversary to celebrate. The state roads L255 and L269 in the Wiedtal will be open from 10:00 - 17:00 for cyclists, inline skaters and pedestrians only.
At numerous points along the route, clubs and restaurateurs will set up stands with drinks, snacks or coffee and cake or open their beer gardens. Children's entertainment, live music and raffles will provide variety. There will be service stations for repairing minor defects, including breakdown assistance and accessory sales. The complete program can be found at www.wieder-ins-tal.de.
Due to the construction site in Altwied, the start will be moved to Niederbreitbach again this year. As usual, the finish is in Seifen, so the route is 36 km long. In Niederbreitbach, parking spaces are available at the entrance to the town and in the leisure park. The route can be accessed via Kurtscheid or Melsbach. Cyclists arriving from the Neuwied or Altwied and Datzeroth districts should use the signposted Wied cycle path, as the L255 will not be closed to vehicle traffic until Niederbreitbach.
The cycling day is organized by the municipalities of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach, Asbach, Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld and Puderbach as well as the town of Neuwied. They are supported by the districts of Neuwied and Altenkirchen as well as the Neuwied and Westerwald-Sieg savings banks, VR Bank Rhein-Ahr-Eifel and Raiffeisenbank Neustadt. The police, emergency services and fire department are on duty to ensure that the event runs safely. The Regio lines will not be running on this day.
Further information is available at www.wieder-ins-tal.de or from the Touristik-Verband Wiedtal e.V. on 02638 - 4017 and info@wiedtal.de. The date for next year has already been set: Sunday, May 18, 2025.
