Corona crisis: "Food to go" as the hope of the Wäller gastronomy sector

A foil container filled with penne pasta, vegetables, and grated cheese sits on a table next to empty food containers and a label that reads Penne Veggie.

At the beginning of the week, restaurants across the country had to close their doors. Domestic restaurants are also affected. They are still allowed to offer their food in home service. A notice on the homepage of the Westerwald Tourist Service informs citizens about the offer.

Very few restaurateurs can afford to close their establishments without any income. For this reason, some restaurateurs have been offering take-away food since this week. Delivery services are also being offered more frequently these days.
The Westerwald Tourist Service provides information about such offers on its homepage. At www.westerwald.info, citizens can find out where they can pick up food or have it delivered in times of crisis. Citizens are asked to provide information about other offers. The same goes for restaurateurs who offer a delivery or pick-up service.
"We provide an overview of bistros and restaurants in the region that offer delivery and pick-up services. In this way, we can work together to ensure that gastronomy in the region is maintained. Have fun ordering!".
It is also helpful if citizens purchase vouchers. The money will benefit the stores during the crisis and the vouchers will only be redeemed once the café and co. have resumed operations.

The community initiative "Wir Westerwälder" also offers an online service during the Corona period. The website www.wir-westerwaelder.de already features over 130 businesses in the region with information on opening hours, delivery services, etc.
