Exchange between hiking trail sponsors and forestry

A large group of smiling adults, mostly men, stand closely together in a brightly lit indoor space with green accent lighting and modern decor.

The more than 40 volunteer trail patrons from the municipality of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach met at the start of the year at the Landhotel Fernblick in Hümmerich. They look after a total of over 500 km of marked hiking trails. In his welcoming address, the 1st Chairman of the Touristik-Verband Wiedtal e.V., Mayor Hans-Werner Breithausen, emphasized how important and indispensable this voluntary work is. After all, the hiking trails not only contribute to income and jobs in the tourism sector, but are also heavily used by citizens.

Managing Director Florian Fark summarized the hiking trails in the Wiedtal and Rengsdorfer Land. These include the three certified Wäller tours, now five Kleine Wäller, WesterwaldSteig, RheinSteig and Wiedweg, Butterpfad, Pilgerweg and Krippenweg, Zwergenwege, Erzwegewege and almost 50 local circular trails. All of them can be found on the hiking map and in the tour planner at www.wiedtal.de with GPX data. The free hiking brochure is currently being reprinted in German and Dutch.

The trail patrons also used the evening to exchange ideas with the attending foresters from the Dierdorf forestry office. Frank Krause was present for the Anhausen district, Sebastian Grobbel for the Straßenhaus district and Gregor Nassen for the Waldbreitbach district.

The event ended with a thank-you dinner at the Landhotel Fernblick.
