There have been changes to the hiking trail network in the Arnsau area near Roßbach / Wied. The former Hotel Wiedfriede has been sold and is being converted into a multi-generation house by the new owners. As a result, the hiking trails that run across the site can no longer be used.
This closure mainly affects the supra-regional Wiedweg. In future, it will no longer lead from the Weißenfelser Ley to the other side of the Wied, but will continue to the left of the Wied to Roßbach and over the suspension bridge at the Hotel Strand-Café. There it meets the usual route past the Wiedschleife campsite in the direction of Waldbreitbach. The finish of stage 5 and the start of stage 6 are therefore no longer Arnsau, but the Wiedhalle parking lot in Roßbach.
The "Basaltbogen" adventure loop, a combination of the Wiedweg and WesterwaldSteig, will be adapted accordingly. "The path directly along the Wied was one of the most beautiful sections. However, it has now been closed for almost two years due to extensive tree felling work," says Florian Fark from the Wiedtal Tourism Association. The Westerwald-Verein has already re-marked the Wiedweg. The revised route can be found in the Rhineland-Palatinate tour planner and at www.wiedtal.de.
