Rhine-Wied Lions Club presents special CD - District Administrator Achim Hallerbach: "Great opportunity for our musicians to present themselves"

Neuwied district. When we sing, we emit aerosols, especially when performed with fervor and at the top of our lungs. Choirs and music societies were therefore not allowed to rehearse for a long time, let alone perform in front of an audience. As a result, they were among the biggest victims of the coronavirus protection measures. This has not gone unnoticed by the "Lions" Rhein-Wied. And that's why the club's organizers came up with something special: they contacted 15 music groups from our region and offered them a special stage on a CD. "Weihnacht in Rhein-Wied" is now available for 15 euros.

For every disc sold, a whopping 12 euros will go to a good cause: the promotion of musical youth work, half in our region and half in the Ahr valley.

"A really great idea from the Lions Club. Our musicians need opportunities like this to present themselves and be remembered. Being on a CD like this is also a great motivational boost," said District Administrator Achim Hallerbach at the official presentation. Hallerbach is also the (unpaid) honorary president of the state music association and was therefore all the more pleased that the CD also showcases the wide range of musical activities in our district. "It's also a great gift," he said, and immediately got himself a few copies.

As Lions initiator Siegfried Weber explained, he and his fellow campaigners wrote to musicians and choirs and asked them to contribute, resulting in a varied list of tracks. Among those taking part are "Ruth Zimmermann & Bluestone Combo" from Linz, the marching band of the Leubsdorf fire department, the women's choir "Chorallen", Bardo Becker on the Klais organ, the Rahms music association and the women's choir "Melodia". The traditional choral society Thalhausen 1864 sings "Christmas - Dream of Peace", the gospel choir "Klangfarben" contributes "Come, Let us sing" and the music society "Harmonie" from Kurtscheid "I pray to the power of love". Lions President Eberhard Mandel described the "work of art" as a "CD for the Advent season". And Christoph Freitag, the club's activity manager, added that the result was "by no means a trivial Internet playlist", but a well thought-out and successful compilation. The album not only includes classics such as "Last Christmas" and "Merry Christmas Everywhere", but also contemplative and humorous pieces of various genres - from gospel to jazz and pop. The individual pieces have also been professionally "mastered" in a regional recording studio and then pressed in a first edition of 1200 copies. Even though the artists involved waived their fees, this naturally cost money. Thanks to many donations, however, the Lions have managed to retain only 3 euros per CD to cover their own costs. The rest is then donated to the next generation of musicians.

The CD "Weihnacht in Rhein-Wied" is available at a price of 15 euros from around 40 advance booking offices, including the Tourist Information Office in Waldbreitbach .
