414 pages full of history(ies): The Local History Yearbook 2023 of the district of Neuwied has been published and is available for €7.00 from the Waldbreitbach Tourist Information Office.
The articles in the new edition include the Roman consecration stone in the parish church of Neustadt, Isenburg Castle in the High Middle Ages, an article about F.W. Raiffeisen, a Jesuit from Rengsdorf on the trail of Prince Maximilian zu Wied, the history of the basalt quarries near Fernthal, the "Rengsdorf Case" - lynchings of Allied airmen in the winter of 1944, the Wied and its tributaries and the summer resort in the Wiedtal in the 1950s.
This year's cover picture shows the Dattenberg castle villa, which was completely renovated a few years ago.
