New Christmas lights for the Waldbreitbach Tourist Information Office

A traditional half-timbered house decorated with Christmas lights and garland glows warmly at dusk on a quiet street, next to other illuminated buildings.

The Waldbreitbach Tourist Information Office is located in a half-timbered house that is over 250 years old and was extensively renovated in 2020. To make the building blend in even better with the Christmas village, the Touristik-Verband Wiedtal e.V. had new Christmas lighting installed. These consist of warm white LEDs on the gable, which emphasize the contours of the building. Wide garlands in a fir green look were used along the first floor. And the restored windows are accentuated by light curtains. Thanks to state-of-the-art LED outdoor fairy lights, the entire lighting is very energy-efficient and long-lasting, making it sustainable.

Half of the €9,000 funding for the project came from the LEADER Rhine-Wied region. LEADER is an EU funding program that has been supporting innovative actions in rural areas since 1991. With the start of the new funding period, the entire VG Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach will be part of the LEADER Raiffeisen region from July 2023. A new call for funding is expected in late summer.

The idyllic village of Waldbreitbach in the Wiedtal valley has been transformed into the Waldbreitbach Christmas Village for over 30 years. The current season runs until January 29, 2023 and all nativity scenes and attractions will remain set up until then, can be visited daily and admission is free. There is another highlight in the calendar of events on Saturday, 28 January: VfL Waldbreitbach is organizing the 1st Christmas tree throwing event with a sporting three-way competition in the high throw, long throw and spin throw.
