New cycle path signage around Rengsdorf

A metal signpost stands by a forest road, showing directions to Neuwied, Rengsdorf, Bonefeld, Puderbach, and Straßenhaus. Lush green trees and foliage surround the area, with a path visible to the right.

New cycle path signage has been installed between Neuwied-Oberbieber and Oberhonnefeld-Gierend. These are based on the state-wide specifications of the HBR (green and white signage). The cycle path runs from Neuwied via Melsbach, Rengsdorf, Bonefeld and Straßenhaus to Oberhonnefeld-Gierend. At Straßenhaus, a junction to Oberraden is signposted, which continues to the Puderbacher Land cycle paths. A connection to Kurtscheid and Ehlscheid is being planned. This is the first step towards continuous signposting in the Rengsdorfer Land region.

In addition, a cycle path concept is currently being developed by VG Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach in coordination with the local communities. The planning office Dittrich from Neustadt has taken over the implementation. Further cycle paths will then be developed and signposted on the basis of the results. Attention is also being paid to mountain bike trails.

Rhineland-Palatinate is focusing on the promotion of cycle tourism and local mobility through the consistent expansion of a qualified cycle network. To this end, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, together with the State Office for Mobility and Rheinland-Pfalz Tourismus GmbH, developed and introduced the "Information on signposting and tourist signage for cycling in Rhineland-Palatinate - HBR" back in 2004. It provides the basis for uniform and consistent signposting of cycle routes in Rhineland-Palatinate. The newly marked routes are now gradually being incorporated into all maps and online portals.
