A group of about 25 people, including adults and children, stand together smiling outdoors on a lawn in a garden with trees and houses in the background.

The "Streuobstwiese" dwarf trail on the outskirts of Rengsdorf was reopened last weekend. The three dwarf trails are still very popular and have been in even greater demand than before, especially in the last two years. In order to ensure that the offer is well positioned for the future, the local community of Rengsdorf and the "Flora und Fauna e.V." decided to upgrade and modernize the green dwarf trail no. 3. Thanks to funding from the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park, new information boards, new signage and other nature-related objects with a total value of €9,000 were purchased The trail will be marketed in future under the motto "Orchard meadow".

At the opening ceremony, local mayor Christian Robenek emphasized the extreme biodiversity along the path, which is often only noticeable on closer inspection. Ingrid Runkel from the FloFa association had prepared a great opening ceremony. She thanked her team, who are constantly active along the path and in the children's herb garden. District Administrator Achim Hallerbach, 2nd Chairman of the Nature Park, emphasized the importance of the dwarf trails for the region as environmental education trails. The nature park supported 80% of the project with state funding. Hans-Werner Breithausen, 1st Chairman of the Tourism Association, emphasized the great importance of walking trails for guests and locals. These short circular trails in particular are currently in great demand.

Afterwards, visitors were able to take a look at the herb garden and take part in a guided tour of the dwarf trail. This is open at any time and the route can be found in the hiking tour planner at www.wiedtal.de.
