Record number of visitors to the Iserbach loop

A small wooden playground structure with a slide and stairs sits in a grassy field, surrounded by a fence. Trees and distant hills are visible in the background under a clear sky.

The Wäller Tour Iserbachschleife in Rengsdorfer Land has once again set a new visitor record for 2021. After 6,200 hikers in 2020, 6,900 visitors were counted last year. Of course, this was also a result of the coronavirus-related restrictions. This was particularly evident in February, when the second lockdown began. "Even in the first quarter of this year, there were significantly more visitors than in the years before the pandemic. As a result, many locals have also become aware of the offers on their doorstep. From a tourism perspective, we can only hope that this effect will continue for a long time to come," says Florian Fark from the Wiedtal Tourism Association.

Special thanks go to the trail sponsors around Wilfried Dietz. The local communities for their work and support. The district foresters, who make sure that hikers are not hindered too much by felling and who clear fallen trees out of the way. To the teams of helpers from Isenburg and Rüscheid who work on the "Schleif" all year round. And to many other supporters and visitors who are a great help with tips or by taking on certain tasks. And last but not least, Reiner Eisenhard, the long-serving trail warden, who has always ensured that the Iserbach loop is well marked and that any defects are quickly rectified.

Magnificent panoramic views, lovely stream valleys, extensive meadow landscapes, light-flooded beech forests and historic buildings are the highlights of the Wäller Tour Iserbachschleife. The 20.8 km route is challenging, but a shortcut allows it to be split into two moderate stages. The starting point is in Anhausen, parking lot Auf dem Löh. You should always plan a break at the Thalhauser Mühle with its first-class natural cuisine and great beer garden.
