The number of overnight stays in the municipality of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach set a new record in 2022, exceeding 100,000 overnight stays for the first time. The number of overnight stays from January to December was exactly 110,837, which corresponds to an increase of 115.7% compared to the previous year. The number of guests has also risen by 72.1% to 32,530. Even compared to the period before the pandemic, the number of overnight stays is still 13% higher than in 2019.

The growth is particularly noticeable in camping tourism. This is now included in the official figures from the State Statistical Office in Bad Ems for the first time. Florian Fark, Managing Director of Touristik-Verband Wiedtal e.V., commented: "The great development at the campsites has been evident for several years now. We have been fighting for a long time for them to be included in the statistics. On the other hand, overnight stays in vacation apartments are no longer recorded and are no longer included in these statistics."

"Overall, there was significant growth in the number of overnight stays in the entire district of Neuwied. In the seven municipalities and the city of Neuwied, 153,025 guests stayed overnight a total of 387,570 times," adds Anja Arenz from the economic development department.
