Autumn hiking in the Wiedtal and Rengsdorfer Land: Many of the more than 40 volunteer trail wardens from the Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach municipality came together for a regular exchange. "Our volunteers currently look after a good 50 local and national hiking trails with a total length of 500 km! That's a great achievement," says Hans-Werner Breithausen, 1st Chairman of the tourism association. They met for dinner at the Lacher Stall in Roßbach and exchanged news and experiences about trail work beforehand. It was also particularly important to get to know each other. It was therefore pleasing to welcome some new trail patrons and representatives from the Wiedweg.
The trail maintainers were given work materials such as spray paint, aluminum nails, signs, stickers and marking arrows. They are now well equipped for the upcoming work. Barbara Sterr from WanderTourenTeam Rengsdorf gave a training session on marking standards. As a guest, Gerd Schneider, Forest Director of the Fürstlich-Wiedischen Forstamt, reported on the current state of the forest.
Managing Director Florian Fark added: "The hiking trails are often in a poor condition for a long time after forestry work. It would make sense to carry out an inventory before and after the work and to signpost detour. Thanks to the nationwide tour planner via Outdooractive, we have every opportunity to react digitally. The forest work must of course be carried out; it is a matter of mutual consideration, information and planning. We live from hiking tourism as the No. 1 topic and tourism is an enormous source of income and secures many jobs in Rhineland-Palatinate."
