The Wiedtal valley and the Rengsdorfer Land region in the middle of the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park are characterized by particularly good air quality in many places. Holidaymakers will find four state-approved climatic health resorts along the Wied promenade: Waldbreitbach, Niederbreitbach, Hausen/Wied and Roßbach/Wied. In spring, the German Meteorological Service carried out the air quality assessment, which is due every five years, and continued to certify the resorts as having excellent air hygiene conditions.

Health resorts are places that have been awarded a special rating due to their proven suitability. The predicatized spas and health resorts in Rhineland-Palatinate are subject to the criteria of the state health resort law. It is proof of a high level of health orientation and a wide range of quality offers. It is based on the definitions of the Deutscher Heilbäderverband e.V. (German Spa Association).

Nature is the best medicine - climatic health resorts have high air quality and a special bioclimate. The forest serves as a natural filter. It ensures that the ozone content is kept low and the heat load on the body is more balanced and lower. The designation also has requirements for the character of the town and the range of facilities on offer. The name goes back to the air cure from the 19th century, a form of climatic therapy. Here, patients lay on deckchairs for several hours a day to recover in the health-promoting bioclimate.

Today, the climatic health resorts along the Wied promenade focus their tourist offerings on the health-oriented guest in a sustainable and verifiable manner. As far as possible, they avoid emissions and immissions that could impair the stay. Through their offers, they contribute to the development of sustainable tourism. They also play an important social role in maintaining the health of the local population. In addition to the four climatic health resorts on the Wied, Rengsdorfer Land is also home to the climatic health resort of Hardert and the climatic health resort of Rengsdorf.
