The "Sustainable Destination Westerwald" partner network continues to grow: the Touristik-Verband Wiedtal e.V. is a new, committed business to join the network. It provides new impetus with sustainable measures and underlines the joint path towards responsible tourism in the Westerwald - for guests and locals of future generations.
With targeted improvement measures, the association shows how ecological, economic and social sustainability can be put into practice in everyday tourism. The outdoor facilities will be planted with native plants and an insect hotel will be added to promote biodiversity. In addition, information on public transport connections and hiking routes will be digitally processed and made accessible. The consistent switch to eco-paper, eBike rental and the focus on regional partners are concrete initial measures. In the "TourCert Qualified" initiative, further improvement measures are implemented every year. In this way, the partners contribute to the common goal of sustainable tourism in the Westerwald.
"We want to make a small contribution to this topic with the tourist information office. In particular, however, we also want to involve our partner businesses from the hotel, camping and catering industries in the future and win them over as sustainability partners. After all, the savings potential and measures are even more extensive there," adds Vanessa Schmid, sustainability officer at the tourism association.
