The VG Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach is taking part in the city cycling campaign for the first time from May 3 to 23. Anyone who lives, works, is a member of a club or attends a school here can take part. There will be a special classification for local politicians.
Participants should cycle as many distances as possible in a climate-friendly way and collect kilometers for their team and their municipality. The top three finishers will receive great prizes. The type of bike used to take part and where the routes are cycled are irrelevant for the ranking.
City Cycling is an international campaign by Climate Alliance Services. It is intended to set an example for increased promotion of cycling. You can collect as many bicycle kilometers as possible on these 21 consecutive days, either alone or in a team. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the issues of bicycle use and bicycle traffic planning in local parliaments. A fitting framework, as the implementation of a cycle path concept in the VG Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach is currently imminent.
Mayor Pierre Fischer on the reasons for taking part: "Every kilometer ridden shows that we can make a difference together: We can make a difference together - for our environment, for our health and for the quality of life in our municipality. Especially in a rural region like ours, cycling is a real alternative - be it on the way to work, in your free time or in everyday life. This is exactly where we want to start with our participation and send a strong signal."
With the free City Cycling app, participants can track the routes they cycle via GPS and credit them directly. Alternatively, the kilometers can be conveniently entered in the system.
