Since 2022, the Christmas Village Waldbreitbach e.V. has been dedicated to preserving traditions, fostering connections, and embracing new ideas. And with this year’s season set to begin on November 27, the final stretch of preparations is already well underway.
When Waldbreitbach transforms once again into an atmospheric Christmas village during the Advent and Christmas season, it is the result not only of the work of many individuals but also of the dedication of the Christmas Village Waldbreitbach e.V. The association was founded in 2022 and has grown into an important community that contributes ideas, time, and energy to the continued development of the Christmas village.
The association’s purpose is to preserve, further develop, and enrich the Christmas spirit and the special atmosphere in the town with new ideas. The association aims to bring people together, strengthen the sense of community, and help ensure that Waldbreitbach continues to be recognized far beyond the region as a special Christmas village. This also involves bringing together and coordinating the various activities of the Nativity Scene Enthusiasts, the Chamber of Commerce, churches, the tourism association, the local parish, VfL Waldbreitbach, and private groups.
Since its founding, the association has already launched and implemented numerous projects. A visible example is the new Advent calendar house on the banks of the Wied. Another initiative is the information booth at the Christkindchenmarkt. And the Christmas village booth in Schmiddepark is also among the association’s activities.
The big raffle provides excitement and joy. It has now also become an integral part of the association’s activities and is prepared and carried out with great dedication. A very special community experience last year was the open Christmas caroling event at the Advent calendar house. This year, on the 4th Sunday of Advent, the motto is once again: Sing together, experience Christmas together!
The latest project is the Nativity Scene Trail. This has expanded the offerings for families and, in particular, for the youngest visitors to the Christmas Village.Parents and children are now invited to build their own nativity scenes and help shape the Nativity Scene Trail.
The association’s decoration team also plays a special role. To ensure that Waldbreitbach takes on its special glow during the Advent season, numerous decorations must be prepared, set up, maintained, and eventually taken down again.
What may seem effortless to visitors actually represents many hours of work for the dedicated volunteers.
The association would like to further expand its work and bring new projects to life. To this end, it is seeking additional members and volunteers. No specific expertise is required; the association is looking for people who are eager to get involved.
