Local history yearbook 2024 for the district of Neuwied published

A group of around 30 older adults, mostly men, stand outdoors on stone steps, smiling at the camera. Some hold large posters. Trees and greenery fill the background in bright sunlight.

The presentation of archaeological finds, an inheritance dispute involving a Wiedisch pastor, a trip to Indonesia with Neuwied sailors on board, local events such as a tavern brawl or the dwarf school in the lost Rockefeld - the Local History Yearbook 2024 has a lot to offer on 448 pages.

This year's cover is adorned with an aerial view of the Monrepos monument zone and the calendar shows rare bird species in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park.

As part of the presentation of the new yearbook, it is almost a tradition to pay tribute to those authors who have contributed to its success for decades. This year's honoree was Bernd Willscheid, long-time director of the Roentgen Museum, who will be taking his well-deserved retirement at the turn of the year.

The book has been published in an edition of 2,300 copies and is available from the Waldbreitbach Tourist Information Office at a price of €8.00.
