Over 40 volunteer trail patrons from the municipality of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach recently met at the Malberg-Hütte in Hausen to kick off the year. They look after a total of over 500 km of marked hiking trails in the Wiedtal and Rengsdorfer Land. The 1st Chairman of the Wiedtal Tourist Association, Mayor Hans-Werner Breithausen, praised the exemplarily marked and maintained hiking trails and the broad volunteer commitment.
Managing Director Florian Fark gave an overview of the work of the tourism association, in particular the statistics, marketing activities and the digital hiking tour planner via Outdooractive. The hiking trails are not only used by holidaymakers and day visitors, but predominantly by locals. He also presented the new gravel bike theme, which will be launched shortly.
Guest speaker Uwe Hoffmann, head of the Dierdorf forestry office, spoke about the current state of the forest and the links to the hiking offer. A total of 7 district foresters from the surrounding forest districts and the Fürstlich-Wied forestry administration were present. There is an intensive and collegial exchange between forestry and tourism, because only together can the nature-oriented offers be used and marketed.
