The Westerwald is more than just an excursion destination - it is our retreat, our source of strength, our home in nature. With the new awareness campaign "Jetzt Pass mo off!", Westerwald Touristik-Service is addressing guests and locals alike and calling on them to be more mindful of nature, the environment and their fellow human beings. The motto stands for more than just a simple note of caution - it is an affectionate appeal in Wael dialect that shows attitude: respect, consideration and responsibility on our paths, in our forests and when traveling through our homeland. Together - with locals and guests - we can protect what is important to us!
The heart of the campaign: treating nature and fellow human beings with respect. Marked paths protect sensitive plants, while noise and loose dogs disturb wild animals - especially during the breeding season. The initiative calls on people to pick up litter and keep water sources free of soap, sun cream and other residues. And those who meet others in a friendly manner - for example with a "Hui Wäller!", the traditional Westerwald greeting - create a positive atmosphere on the trails.
Whether on foot or by bike, anyone traveling in the Westerwald should travel with open eyes and an alert mind. The campaign gives specific tips on how to stay safe in nature: paths and weather conditions should be checked in advance, fireplaces should only be used in permitted places and high seats or shelters should be respected.
The campaign invites you to discover regional gastronomy and natural products, choose sustainable accommodation or enjoy camping on official sites. Those who question their consumption can experience more enjoyment in return - for example by buying local products. And the tip: "Take a vacation at home" is also a loving reminder to look at your own homeland with new eyes.
The "Jetzt Pass mo off!" campaign calls on EVERYONE to reflect on their own behavior, think about nature and the region and put their findings into practice. Because only if everyone helps will the Westerwald remain a place to feel good - for people, animals and plants - today and in the future.
