
More and more holidaymakers are realizing that the district of Neuwied is also an excellent travel destination. In order to be prepared accordingly, the tourism experts from the district of Neuwied and the Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld municipality recently met for their regular working group meeting at the "Westerwald-Treff" in Oberlahr, just in time for the start of the main season.
"In camping tourism, where the growth in the number of overnight stays is particularly high, we are in a good position. The positive tourism prospects must be an incentive to focus even more intensively on tourism as a quality of life and economic factor," said District Administrator Achim Hallerbach in his welcoming address. After Rolf Schmidt-Markoski, first deputy of the Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld municipality, had presented the tourist attractions of his home region, Anja Arenz, tourism officer at the district economic development agency, provided information on the latest activities and existing plans.
From April to May, the Westerwald Beef Weeks aim to raise awareness of the quality and variety of regional beef among consumers and local restaurants. Around ten campaigns invite you to visit producers and hosts of the regional initiative "Naturgenuss Rhein-Westerwald" for information, experience and enjoyment. "Regional products and their quality are essential components when it comes to the perception of a region as a sustainable and authentic travel destination," explains Jörg Hohenadl, whose Naturgenuss project is attracting more and more partner businesses.
