Treasure hunt in Rengsdorfer Land - GPS tours around Hümmerich

Five people stand and smile in front of a hedge and a sign for “Landhotel Fernblick.” They are each holding small flyers or cards, and the setting appears to be outdoors near a hotel or restaurant entrance.

There is now a new outdoor activity in the municipality of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach. "Copper" and "Gold" are the names of the two GPS puzzle tours in and around the local community of Hümmerich in Rengsdorfer Land. Using a GPS device, you are guided along the two routes to various waypoints in the nearby forest area and in the village center to solve different puzzles about the local nature, the geographical location and the historical village history. The solution to each puzzle gives you the next coordinate to navigate to your destination station by station. Each tour consists of 10 exciting and tricky puzzles. At the destination, a treasure chest must be found and a numerical code cracked. Here you can also enter your name in the tour logbook.

An exciting puzzle walk over almost 5 km through woods and meadows with a moderate ascent, duration approx. 2.5 hours. Suitable for families, children's and youth groups of up to 10 people or in pairs, recommended from the age of 11. Start and finish is the Landhotel Fernblick, Bismarckstraße 5 in 53547 Hümmerich. The game always requires waypoint maps and GPS devices, which can be borrowed from the hotel (please reserve in advance, free of charge, ID card required). It is also possible to go on the tour with your own GPS-enabled cell phone with GPS app.

Guided tours can be booked with adventure educator Sven Rodenbach: www.svenrodenbach.de. Further information is available from the youth welfare office of the VG Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach at jugendpflege@vg-rw.de or at www.wiedtal.de.
