Westerwald tourism working group meets in Waldbreitbach

A group of people are seated around tables in a large, high-ceilinged room with arched windows and an organ. Some are talking or writing, and a few stand near the walls, suggesting a meeting or workshop setting.

On March 23, the tourism working group of the Westerwald Tourism Service took place on the monastery hill of the Waldbreitbach Franciscan nuns. Over 30 representatives from local tourism and functional partners such as the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park and the regional initiative Wir Westerwälder met to discuss the current challenges in tourism.

André Faupel, manager of the Rosa Flesch Hotel and Conference Center, introduced the location to the participants. The guests were particularly impressed by the Forum Antoniuskirche, where the conference was held. Topics such as marketing, the new homepage, digitalization and sustainability were on the agenda. The tourism experts engaged in an intensive exchange on these topics and discussed various ideas and solutions.

Managing Director Maja Büttner then welcomed Malte Dick from Rheinland-Pfalz-Tourismus GmbH and Florian Fark from Touristik-Verband Wiedtal e.V. as external speakers. Malte Dick presented the Rhineland-Palatinate e-learning platform and explained how it can be used for the further training and qualification of tourism stakeholders. Florian Fark presented the special structure of the tourism association and reported on current projects and initiatives. The participants showed great interest in the topics presented and emphasized how important it is to continuously train and network in order to successfully develop tourism in the region.
