Enjoying nature: a real seal of quality

Five people stand smiling in front of a red building with a sign that reads Hotel zur Post. One person in the middle holds a booklet. There are flowers in planters along the front of the building.

The Hotel Zur Post in Waldbreitbach is one of 18 Naturgenuss restaurants and now demonstrates its affiliation to the Naturgenuss regional initiative at the front door.

Neuwied district. Attention: Here you will find the best products from the region! The "Zur Post" hotel signals this to its guests right at the entrance. Where there are usually Michelin stars, Gault Millau toques or Trip Advisor recommendations, in Waldbreitbach there is the Naturgenuss badge. A real seal of quality. Hotel manager Odette Freytag and head chef Bernd Reuschenbach are well aware of this and were delighted to be the first project partners to receive the new, high-quality outdoor sign from District Administrator Achim Hallerbach.

A total of around 50 businesses in the Rhine Valley and Westerwald currently belong to the Naturgenuss initiative. In addition to producers, these include 18 catering businesses. The activities revolve around good regional products, their producers and the region's chefs, who are working more intensively with them and adding an important range of products to their menus. "Regional products are not yet on everyone's lips, but the number of interested consumers and guests is steadily increasing. The Hotel zur Post is also experiencing more and more positive reactions from its guests to the expanding regional range," say Freytag and Reuschenbach with satisfaction. Not only in the restaurant on site, but also in online reviews, there is more and more positive feedback from hotel guests, who consciously praise the regional offer of the gastronomy. The Waldbreitbacher Haus not only presents its affiliation with the Naturgenuss project on the menu, but also presents the regional producer partners and the regional project in words and pictures in several places in the dining room.

District Administrator Achim Hallerbach expressly welcomes the regional commitment. "Focusing on local sources of supply and high-quality regional food can provide a decisive competitive advantage and be a real opportunity for the catering industry to secure its future," he is convinced. Irmgard Schröer from the nature park and project manager Jörg Hohenadl from the district economic development agency are delighted with the positive developments of the network and the marketing initiative. By increasing the regional delicacies on offer, the attractiveness of the entire landscape between the Rhine and the Westerwald is also enhanced. A fact that is appreciated not only by guests, but also by residents and, ultimately, companies looking for skilled workers.

In addition to Hotel zur Post, Restaurant Sonnenseite in Bad Hönningen, Geflügelhof Heinrichs in Bruchhausen and Hotel-Restaurant Thalhauser Mühle have now also opted for the high-quality Naturgenuss membership sign at cost price. The other participants have received new annual membership stickers to affix to their entrance doors.
